Stephen “tWitch” Boss’s mother, Connie Boss Alexander, and his brother, Dre Rose, are speaking out about the claims made in Allison Holker’s memoir, This Far: My Story of Love, Loss, and Embracing the Light. The late dancer died by suicide in December 2022.
During an appearance on CBS Mornings, Dre expressed doubts about the accuracy of Holker’s accounts, stating that there is “a possibility” his brother was struggling with issues without sharing them with her. However, he also acknowledged that there may be aspects of Stephen’s life she was not aware of.
Dre shared conversations between him and Stephen where they discussed imposter syndrome and strategies to tackle insecurities. Dre claimed that these conversations made Stephen feel silenced, as he could not discuss his feelings openly with Holker.
Holker revealed in her memoir that she discovered a “cornucopia” of substances hidden inside Stephen’s closet after his death. She expressed shock and alarm upon discovering the extent of his struggles, which included a history of childhood sexual abuse.
Stephen’s brother, Dre, stated that this revelation was new to their family and shocked them into re-examining their understanding of what happened to their loved one.
The couple’s relationship has been affected by Holker’s memoir release. The dancer’s fans and loved ones have faced backlash online for criticizing her handling of the situation.
Holker expressed her intention in writing the book was to share her story, celebrate their love, and warn others about potential red flags that may be present. She plans to donate all proceeds from the book to a mental health-focused foundation she started in Stephen’s honor.
The family members’ responses highlight concerns about accountability and transparency in Holker’s handling of Stephen’s story, which some see as insensitive to his fans.
