Two Drownings at Carnival Bahamas Resort in Separate Incidents

Two American tourists, a 79-year-old male and a 74-year-old female, died after drowning incidents at Celebration Key, Carnival’s private resort in the Bahamas. The Royal Bahamas Police confirmed that both deaths occurred on Friday.

The two passengers were traveling with family members on separate Carnival ships – Mardi Gras and Elation. Their identities have not been released yet.

According to the police statement, one of the victims died while snorkeling at a beach on the 79-year-old male’s ship, while the other died after becoming unresponsive while swimming in a pool. Both incidents occurred before noon on Friday.

Carnival has confirmed the two deaths and stated that their lifeguards and medical team responded to the emergencies. Autopsies will be performed to determine the cause of death and the investigation is ongoing.

The Mardi Gras ship arrived at Celebration Key earlier this week, while the Elation ship followed shortly after on August 15.
