Duke guard Tyrese Proctor suffered a bone bruise in his knee during Tuesday’s game against Miami, but coach Jon Scheyer confirmed that he will return this season. The injury occurred when Proctor went down with pain after contesting a shot at the rim. Scheyer said that the key to Proctor’s recovery is managing pain and improving movement and strengthening.
“We’ll be very cautious with that,” Scheyer said. “I don’t want to give an exact timeline, because it depends on how we can get him moving over the next days or weeks.”
Proctor was a crucial part of Duke’s attack this season, ranking third on the roster with 11.8 points per game and shooting 40.8% from three-point territory. The team’s improved to 25-3 on the season and sits at No. 1 in the KenPom rankings, entering their final stretch of regular games.
Proctor’s return is a significant boost for Duke ahead of their matchup against Florida State this weekend, followed by games against Wake Forest and North Carolina. With Proctor back on the court, the Blue Devils will be looking to solidify their position as one of the top teams in the ACC.
