Tyron Smith Announces Plans to Retire from NFL

Former Dallas Cowboys left tackle Tyron Smith is expected to retire after 14 seasons in the NFL, 13 of which he spent with the team. A two-time All Pro and seven-time Pro Bowl selection, Smith announced his plans at a press conference scheduled for later this week. The eight-time Pro Bowler was drafted by the Cowboys in 2011 as the ninth overall pick out of USC.

Smith’s career was marked by consistent dominance on the field despite frequent injuries. He paved the way for three NFL rushing leaders, including Ezekiel Elliott and DeMarco Murray, during his time with the Cowboys. Smith is now the second major presence on the team’s offensive line to announce his retirement this offseason, following tackle Zack Martin.

With 170 games played in Dallas, Smith established himself as one of the most dominant offensive linemen of his generation. A prime candidate for both the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the Cowboys’ Ring of Honor, Smith’s legacy will be remembered by fans for years to come.
