Uber Expands Senior-Focused Ride Hailing Features Nationwide

Uber has expanded its Senior Accounts service nationwide, making it easier for seniors to use the ride-hailing platform. The simplified app features larger text, fewer buttons, and easy-to-navigate screens, aimed at improving accessibility for older riders.

Senior Accounts offer a range of benefits, including saved places, which allows users to quickly access frequent destinations like home or the doctor’s office without typing in addresses each time. Other family members on the account can also book rides, change settings, and contact drivers.

Uber aims to address the transportation barrier faced by many seniors, who often struggle with accessing healthcare, groceries, and social connections due to mobility issues. The company recognizes that isolation among older adults can have a ripple effect on entire families and communities.

In addition to Senior Accounts, Uber has introduced Simple Mode, a stripped-down version of the app tailored for first-time users or those seeking more control over their account without sacrificing safety features. This simplified interface offers fewer buttons, bigger text, and streamlined options.

Lyft has also been expanding its own senior-focused service, dubbed Lyft Silver, which provides live phone support and prioritizes matching riders with easier-to-access vehicles. While both companies are racing to dominate the ride-hailing sector, Uber’s expansion of Senior Accounts aims to provide a more accessible experience for seniors across the country.
