UK MPs Demand Israel Ambassador’s Immediate Expulsion

British lawmakers have written to Prime Minister Keir Starmer urging him to immediately expel Israel’s ambassador to the UK, Tzipi Hotovely. The cross-party group of MPs, including Labour MP Abtisam Mohamed and members of the Independent Alliance, Green Party, and Scottish National Party, have signed a letter requesting that the government take action against Israel for its alleged genocide in Gaza.

The MPs argue that Britain’s commitment to the Genocide Convention obliges it to prevent such atrocities and have called on the government to enforce international sanctions on Israel. They also demand that the UK support humanitarian aid for Gaza and back International Criminal Court investigations into Israeli actions.

Hotovely, who has made controversial statements about the Palestinian issue, has met with key Labour Party donors and pro-Israel lobbyists during Israel’s recent conflict in Gaza. The MPs claim that her actions are a “signal that the UK will not tolerate the continued defiance of international law” and have urged the government to act urgently.

The letter comes amid growing pressure on Starmer’s government to take a stronger stance on Israel’s actions in Gaza, with many critics accusing them of providing “political cover or military support” to the Israeli regime.
