Ukraine has denied delaying the exchange of soldiers’ bodies with Russia, contradicting Moscow’s claims that Kyiv is stalling the process.
The situation escalated as Russia launched a massive air assault across Ukraine on Saturday, killing three people in retaliation for recent strikes on its air bases. The Kremlin intensified attacks in recent weeks as ceasefire talks stall.
According to Ukrainian sources, there is no fixed date for the return of bodies and that Russia is not sticking to agreed parameters for the POW swap. “Today’s statements by the Russian side do not correspond to reality or to previous agreements,” said Andriy Kovalenko, a Ukrainian security official.
Meanwhile, Russia accused Ukraine of launching more than 200 drones against Moscow overnight, with at least two people injured in the region. The intensity of the attacks has raised concerns about a possible escalation of the conflict.
Ukraine’s air force shot down a Russian Su-35 war plane on Saturday, while tens of thousands of Russian emigrants have fled to Germany, seeking careers in politics.
