Ukraine Launches ‘Massive’ Drone Attacks on Russia

Ukraine has launched a “massive” drone strike campaign against multiple regions in Russia, with the attacks appearing to be one of the largest recent assaults in the country’s war machine.

According to local officials, drones were targeted in southwestern Russia, including Bryansk, Saratov, and Tula. The blasts were reported in the border region of Bryansk, with chemical plant damage also confirmed in the area.

Russia’s Defense Ministry stated that Ukraine had launched over 140 drones, along with U.S.-made ATACMS and Storm Shadow missiles. However, Ukrainian forces claim to have struck deep within Russia, with targets including an oil storage base and military production facilities.

The attacks forced at least six cities to restrict their airspace, and two industrial plants sustained damage in Saratov. The governor of the region reported that schools would be closed due to the attacks.

European leaders have expressed solidarity with Ukraine, with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius making an unannounced visit to Kyiv. President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration next week has raised concerns about potential U.S. support for Ukraine.

Russia has vowed to respond to the attacks, and Moscow’s forces carried out an aerial assault on Ukraine that put much of the country under air-raid alerts.
