A series of drone attacks between Ukraine and Russia has claimed five lives, with multiple people injured. The attacks occurred overnight on both sides, with Ukrainian officials reporting over 200 drones and nearly 30 missiles fired by Russia. Most targeted Dnipropetrovsk, resulting in three deaths.
In Russia, a car fire following a drone strike resulted in two fatalities. Rostov’s acting governor reported the incident. Meanwhile, Ukraine claimed Russian forces were being pushed back in Sumy region.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that troops are “gradually pushing Russian forces out” of the area, while claiming strikes on Kharkiv and Sumy would not be left without response.
Russia also reported capturing two villages, Zelenyi Hai and Maliivka. However, Ukrainian officials disputed these claims, saying their forces had liberated a village in Kindrativka.
The conflict escalated after a brief ceasefire talks in Istanbul failed to make progress. The talks were held on Wednesday evening but both sides rejected each other’s ideas.
