Umar Nurmagomedov Vows to Become Champion After First Loss

Umar Nurmagomedov is already looking ahead to another championship opportunity after falling short in Saturday’s UFC 311 co-main event. The undefeated fighter lost a unanimous decision to bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili, marking Nurmagomedov’s first loss.

Despite being outlasted by the challenger, Nurmagomedov expressed no regrets and vowed to become the champion. In a post-fight statement on social media, he wrote: “There are no excuses. InshaAllah, I will become the champion.”

Nurmagomedov also revealed that he broke his left hand in the opening round but still felt he’d done enough to win the fight. His management team later shared photos of his injured hand to support this claim.

The fighter plans to re-watch the fight before his next training camp, where he’ll focus on recovering from a loss for the first time. With a record of 6-1 in the UFC, Nurmagomedov now heads into a new challenge to bounce back from his first defeat.
