The North Carolina Tar Heels extended their winning streak to six games, outscoring the Florida State Seminoles 96-85 behind a dominant performance from junior guard RJ Davis. Six different players reached double-digit scoring, with Davis leading the way with 20 points on just nine shots.
Despite being limited by 18 fouls in the first part of the second half, which led to a slow start for Carolina, the team rebounded well, pulling down eight offensive rebounds and turning those into 16 points. The Tar Heels were also effective from three-point range, hitting 10 of 26 attempts.
Cade Tyson had one of his best games as a Tar Heel, playing at both center and power forward, while Seth Trimble chipped in with 17 points. The win cements Carolina’s place in the ACC standings, and they will look to keep their momentum going on Saturday against Miami.
The game also marked a fitting farewell to Leonard Hamilton, who is retiring after this season. A well-produced video feature was shown before the game, highlighting Hamilton’s accomplishments as the fifth-winningest coach in ACC history.
