Uncovering Monday’s Strands Puzzle with Cryptids

The New York Times’ newest puzzle game, Strands, is a fun twist on classic word search games. Each day, players are given a new theme and asked to find all the words that fit it, including a spangram that spans two sides of the board.

Today’s Strands theme is “monster quest” with hints pointing to Sasquatch-type beasts like Nessie. The first letters of each word were provided, but instead of giving two-letter clues, today’s hints offered three.

The answers include:

– MOTHMAN
– JACKALOPE
– YETI
– BIGFOOT
– CRAWLER
– KRAKEN

Cryptids are mythical creatures rumored to exist but cannot be proven scientifically. The completed Strands grid features a spangram with “CRYPTIDS.” Solving this puzzle required some quick finds and perseverance, especially for the elusive JACKALOPE.
