A University of North Carolina Wilmington film studies graduate won a top prize in an international commercial contest, putting his work on display during one of the nation’s most-watched sporting events – the Super Bowl. Dylan Bradshaw and co-director Nate Norell submitted a 30-second commercial to the Doritos Crash Super Bowl Contest, which featured actor Michael Strassner. The duo was among three finalists from over 2,000 entries and took home $1 million for their winning ad.
The commercial, titled “Abduction,” showcases Bradshaw and Norell’s creative vision as they bring a sci-fi inspired story to life. The commercial follows Strassner, who is startled awake by an approaching UFO, and ends with the Doritos bag flying out of his hands and into space.
Bradshaw and Norell expressed their excitement on “TODAY” after learning that their entry would air during the Super Bowl, and their $1 million prize will help fund future projects, including a feature film. The duo’s next step is to embark on this ambitious endeavor, following their success in the Doritos contest.
