United Airlines and JetBlue Airways have announced a new agreement to share frequent flier benefits and sell tickets on each other’s websites. The deal, called “Blue Sky,” would allow members of both airlines’ loyalty programs to earn and redeem miles on most flights operated by the other airline.
Benefits under the Blue Sky agreement include priority boarding, free baggage, and preferred seats when flying on the other airline’s aircraft. Both airlines will also display each other’s itineraries and fares on their websites and apps when searching for a flight.
As part of the agreement, JetBlue will give United space to operate seven round trips daily at John F. Kennedy Airport starting as early as 2027. The deal complements JetBlue’s East Coast leisure network with United’s global reach, offering TrueBlue members more benefits no matter where they are traveling.
The airlines will remain separate companies and manage their flights independently, but the agreement provides MileagePlus members with new value and benefits.
