A United Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Shanghai was forced to turn around after the pilot forgot his passport, according to CNN. The flight, carrying 257 passengers and 13 crew members, departed just before 2 p.m. but was diverted to San Francisco, landing at 5 p.m.
The airline confirmed that the pilot did not have his passport onboard and arranged for a new crew to take the customers to their destination in the evening. A passenger on board heard the pilot’s frustrated voice over the intercom, admitting he had forgotten his passport.
This incident follows another United Airlines pilot incident last week, where a visibly Jewish man was forcibly removed from an airplane bathroom after being subjected to an antisemitic rant by the pilot. The passenger, Yisroel Liebb, filed a federal lawsuit against the airline and the US Department of Homeland Security.
