UnitedHealth Reimbursement Boost for Brand-Name Medicines

UnitedHealth Group is increasing reimbursement to pharmacies for brand-name medications in an effort to boost generic adoption rates. The move aims to address a long-standing issue where expensive prescriptions have been losing money for pharmacies. Traditionally, pharmacy benefit managers have prioritized generic medicines, which has led to lower payment for brand-name drugs. As a result, some pharmacies had reduced their inventory of newer branded medications, including diabetes and weight-loss shots.
