Unlocking ChatGPT on iPhone 16 with iOS 18.2 Update

Apple has introduced several new features to the iPhone 16 with the latest iOS 18.2 update, including a partnership with OpenAI’s chatbot, ChatGPT. With ChatGPT, users can access advanced AI capabilities, such as image generation and analysis, on their device.

To enable ChatGPT, go to Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri, where you’ll find the ChatGPT menu under the “Extensions” heading. Tap Set Up… and follow the prompts to get started. You can also toggle the “Confirm ChatGPT Requests” setting to control when you’re prompted for permission.

When using Siri with ChatGPT enabled, you can ask Siri questions that would normally be answered by Apple’s AI, such as asking ChatGPT to compose a short letter or create an image. The chatbot can analyze images and provide answers based on its vast knowledge database.

One notable feature is the integration of OpenAI’s image-generation tools with Siri, allowing users to generate custom images using prompts like “a sad puppy on a rainy day…” . This can be done through the Writing Tools menu in the Notes app or by long-pressing the Camera Control button and asking ChatGPT about what you’re looking at.

Additionally, Visual Intelligence has been introduced, which allows users to search for information about businesses, products, and text using the camera. Alongside this feature is a persistent “Ask” button that will prompt ChatGPT for answers, enabling users to ask follow-up questions like “Is this poisonous?” or “How many calories does this have?”

By unlocking these features, iPhone 16 users can experience advanced AI capabilities on their device and explore new possibilities for creativity and productivity.
