A man arrested at the Cedar Rapids Airport is now facing charges in federal court. Mario Nikprelaj, who was taken into custody after an emergency landing on a flight from Omaha to Detroit, had his state charges dropped. Instead, he will be indicted in federal court for alleged assault and harassment.
Nikprelaj’s actions on Thursday night led the authorities to intervene. He attempted to open the emergency exit and clashed with a crew member. The FBI has confirmed that they are investigating this incident as part of their efforts to prevent crimes that put others at risk on commercial aircraft.
