US Agency Unveils First International Cybersecurity Plan

The US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has published its first-ever international strategic plan, aiming to boost global cooperation in combating cyber threats to critical infrastructure.

The plan acknowledges the complex nature of cyber risks and the need for rapid information sharing with international partners. CISA Director Jen Easterly stated that the new plan will improve coordination with partners, strengthen relationships, and reduce risk to the US’s globally interconnected cyber and physical infrastructure.

The 2025-2026 International Strategic Plan has three key goals:

1. Bolstering foreign infrastructure resilience: CISA will work with international partners to identify critical systems, assess vulnerabilities, and develop strategies to manage shared risks.
2. Strengthening integrated cyber defense: The agency aims to influence global cybersecurity practices, adopt secure by design principles, and increase its network of trusted partners to share information and best practices.
3. Unifying CISA’s coordination of international activities: The plan will establish a governance structure to advise on international matters, improve systematic information sharing, and upskill the workforce to deploy overseas.

These goals align with the agency’s first Strategic Plan released in August 2023. By achieving these objectives, CISA aims to enhance global cooperation in combating cyber threats and protecting critical infrastructure.
