US Aid Workers Injured in Gaza Attack Backed by Israel and US

US aid workers injured in a rocket attack while distributing food to those in need in the Gaza Strip. The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which provides aid under the US-Israel partnership, confirmed that two of its staff were wounded on Saturday.

The GHF blamed Hamas for the attack, which occurred at one of its centers in Khan Younis. No other aid workers or civilians were harmed. The injured US workers are receiving medical treatment and are listed as stable.

This incident highlights concerns over the safety of aid workers operating in combat zones, a criticism leveled against the GHF’s system. Since its launch in May, the organization has faced intense scrutiny for forcing thousands of people to walk through areas controlled by militant groups like Hamas.

Since its inception, Israeli forces have killed more than 400 Palestinians attempting to collect food aid. The US and UN argue that this distribution method prevents aid from reaching Hamas. Meanwhile, Hamas is ready to engage in talks on a ceasefire with Israel, pending certain concessions.

Gaza’s civil defense agency reported 32 Palestinian fatalities due to Israeli military operations on Saturday. At least 20 of the 50 hostages held by Israel are believed alive. The conflict has resulted in over 57,000 deaths since its start in October 2023.
