US Army Soldier Arrested for Leaking Presidential Call Logs

A US Army soldier, Cameron John Wagenius, 20, was arrested in Texas on December 20 on two counts of unlawful transfer of confidential phone records. Wagenius, a communications specialist, is believed to be the cybercriminal known as Kiberphant0m, who had been offering and leaking call records stolen from AT&T and Verizon.

The arrest comes after investigative journalist Brian Krebs revealed that Wagenius was likely involved in the Snowflake hacking campaign, which impacted hundreds of organizations. The suspect was previously stationed in South Korea and is associated with another Canadian national, Connor Riley Moucka, who was arrested in October for his role in the hack.

Wagenius allegedly published stolen call logs for President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris on a cybercriminal portal, and offered a “data schema” from the National Security Agency and SIM-swapping services targeting Verizon customers. The suspect also boasted about hacking over 15 telecom providers, including AT&T and Verizon, and maintaining a DDoS botnet.

Wagenius’ mother confirmed his involvement in cybercriminal activities, while Moucka previously revealed that he had outsourced the sale of data stolen from Snowflake customers to Kiberphant0m. Three arrests have been made in connection with the Snowflake attacks, including Wagenius and another suspect, John Erin Binns, who is currently held in prison in Turkey.
