A US Army soldier, Cameron John Wagenius, 20, has been charged with two counts of unlawful transfer of confidential phone records information. The indictment was unsealed in Texas, where Wagenius was stationed at Fort Cavazos.
Wagenius allegedly used the online handle Kiberphant0m, linked to several high-profile data breaches, including the Snowflake hacking incident and claims to have accessed President-elect Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris’ phone records. AT&T call logs for 2024 presidential candidates were posted online in November but had not been verified.
The indictment accuses Wagenius of selling confidential phone records without specifying details on his alleged hacking activities. The US Army has confirmed the arrest and cooperation with law enforcement agencies.
Wagenius will next be extradited to Seattle, where the case is being handled by local authorities.
