US military attacks on Yemen’s Hodeidah region have killed four people, including three confirmed deaths and two injuries from a water management building targeted by multiple strikes. The Houthi Health Ministry reported the incident, while the US has not confirmed involvement.
The latest attack comes after multiple US strikes against Houthi sites in the Saada and Sanaa regions. The Pentagon has announced that it will deploy a second aircraft carrier to the Middle East, joining the USS Harry S Truman already stationed in the region. Additional military aircraft will also be deployed.
More than 60 people have been killed in Yemen since Washington launched a military offensive against Houthi forces on March 15. The US and its partners are committed to regional security in the CENTCOM area of responsibility.
Houthi forces claim to have fired cruise missiles and drones at US ships in the Truman aircraft carrier group, marking the third strike against US vessels in 24 hours. B-2 bombers have also been relocated to a US-British military base on Diego Garcia, within striking distance of Yemen and Iran.
US President Donald Trump has vowed to continue strikes until Houthi fighters are no longer a threat to shipping. Iranian leaders have responded with threats, including Amirali Hajizadeh stating that Iran is prepared for retaliation if Washington follows through on its threats.
