US Attacks on Iran Divide Iranian Americans

The ongoing military strikes in Iran have created a deep divide among Iranian Americans. Some, like GOP Rep. Stephanie Bice, are calling for Iranians to take back their nation and bring lasting peace to the Middle East. In contrast, others, including Democratic Rep. Yassamin Ansari, believe that diplomacy is still necessary to achieve this goal.

Iranian immigrants in the US, many of whom fled after the 1979 revolution, are divided on the issue. The National Iranian-American Council (NIAC), a lobbying group that advocates for the Iranian American community, has expressed outrage over the US decision to launch military strikes while diplomatic negotiations were still underway.

Prominent Iranian and Muslim organizations, such as the Council on American-Islamic Relations, have condemned the strikes as “unnecessary, unjustified, and unconstitutional.” They are urging Americans to contact their representatives to demand an end to the Trump administration’s actions.

In contrast, Reza Pahlavi, the son of Iran’s last shah, has praised the US strikes, calling them a “humanitarian intervention” aimed at overthrowing the current government. However, he emphasizes that the final victory must come from within Iran, and not through foreign assistance.
