A 57-year-old Russian national, Svetlana Dali, was taken into FBI custody at JFK International Airport after stowing away on a Delta Airline flight to Paris last month. Dali attempted to board the plane without valid travel documents and bypassed TSA checkpoints, evading security screening.
According to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Dali completed security screening without a boarding pass, bypassing two identity verification stations, before boarding the aircraft. She was discovered when a flight attendant noticed her occupying the plane’s bathroom for an unusually long time.
The incident is currently under investigation by federal authorities. Delta Airlines has launched an exhaustive investigation and will cooperate with law enforcement to determine the circumstances surrounding Dali’s actions.
