The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a voluntary recall of 15,388 pounds of beef jerky and snack sticks due to misbranding and undeclared allergens. The affected products contain fish, a known allergen that was not declared on the labels.
The issue was discovered during production monitoring by FSIS inspectors, who found that a new Worcestershire sauce used in certain jerky and snack stick products contained anchovies. The company had previously used a different formula without this addition.
Consumers can identify the recalled products by checking for the establishment number “EST. 20528” inside the USDA mark of inspection. A full list of labels, varieties, and lot codes can be found on the FSIS website.
FSIS has not received any confirmed reports of adverse reactions from these products, but consumers are urged to return them to their original place of purchase if they have them. Anyone concerned about potential health risks or illness related to this recall should contact a healthcare provider. The company’s owner, Ryan Cope, can be reached at [email protected] for questions about the recall.
