US food ingredient company Bunge North America has recalled over 64,000 pounds of its European-style butter blend due to potential undeclared milk allergens. The FDA issued a high-risk warning on July 31 after receiving an alert that consumption may cause temporary or reversible adverse health consequences.
The recall affects 1,800 cases of the NH European Style Butter Blend, which was distributed at 12 US centers and one in the Dominican Republic. Bunge North America is an agribusiness based in Missouri, producing multiple food ingredients including corn, wheat, and soybeans.
Consumers can identify the recalled product using its UPC code (1 00 78684 73961 2) and lot code (5064036503). The butter was packaged in white paperboard cases containing 36 blocks. The FDA warned that milk allergens may be present in the product, posing health risks to consumers.
