US Conducts Airstrikes Against Iranian-Backed Rebels in Yemen

US forces conducted airstrikes against a missile storage site and command-and-control center operated by Houthi rebels, backed by Iran, in Yemen. The strikes were aimed at disrupting and degrading the group’s operations, including attacks on US Navy warships and merchant vessels in the Southern Red Sea.

The attack was carried out with F/A-18 fighter jets and supported by assets from the Navy and Air Force. CENTCOM stated that the strike is part of its ongoing effort to protect US personnel, regional partners, and international shipping.

Houthi militants have vowed to continue their attacks on merchant vessels, which started in October 2023 during Israel’s campaign against Hamas in Gaza. The group has targeted over 100 ships since then.
