US Defense Firm Anduril Announces Hyperscale Manufacturing Facility in Ohio

Anduril, a leading manufacturer of autonomous systems and weapons, has selected Columbus, Ohio as the location for its first hyperscale manufacturing facility, Arsenal-1. The $1 billion investment is expected to create 4,000 direct jobs in the area, making it the largest single job-creation project in Ohio’s history.

Arsenal-1 will utilize Anduril’s software-defined manufacturing platform, optimized for mass production of autonomous systems and weapons. The facility will be a hub for innovative defense manufacturing, leveraging commercial manufacturing tools and processes to produce a wide range of autonomous vehicles.

Located next to Rickenbacker Airport, the site offers direct access to 12,000-foot runways and a private apron, supporting rapid delivery of components and systems to customers. With over 500 acres available for future expansion, Arsenal-1 is designed to be scalable and sustainable.

The announcement has been welcomed by Ohio officials, who see it as a vital step in strengthening national security. Governor DeWine stated that the facility will “transform an empty hangar into a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility” and create thousands of good-paying jobs for Ohioans.

Anduril’s CEO, Brian Schimpf, emphasized that Arsenal-1 represents a significant milestone in defense industrial base rebuilding and enhances deterrence amid rising international threats. The company is committed to harnessing a world-class workforce and agile manufacturing approach to deliver cutting-edge technology and products.

The decision to locate Arsenal-1 in Ohio follows an extensive search process across the United States, contingent upon standard due diligence and approvals. Construction on the facility will begin immediately, with the first products expected to be manufactured starting in July 2026.
