A US company called Palantir has taken a Swiss magazine to court over a critical investigation into its surveillance software. The investigation, published by Republik, found that Palantir had been selling its software to several Swiss authorities for seven years.
The case is being heard in Zurich, Switzerland, and some media groups are concerned it’s an attempt at intimidation. A US firm called Palantir develops intelligence and law enforcement software used by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency and the Israeli army.
Republik found that Palantir had raised concerns about its software among Swiss authorities due to potential data transfers to US agencies. The Swiss media outlet says journalists accessed official documents under freedom of information laws, which they believe should not be censored.
