A recent security issue was reported on doge.gov, the official website of a US government initiative. A coder found that at least two database entries remained visible on the live site, which stated: “this is a joke of a .gov site” and “THESE ‘EXPERTS’ LEFT THEIR DATABASE OPEN -roro.” This discovery raises concerns about website administration practices within the White House.
The DOGE website was launched in January but remained inactive for weeks. It was later developed with posts from the DOGE X account, US government regulations, and federal workforce statistics. However, two web development experts found that doge.gov appears to be built on a Cloudflare Pages site, not hosted on government servers, and its database is accessible to third parties.
This security flaw allows unauthorised users to add content live on the website. The issue was reported to 404Media. Just days earlier, another newly launched US government website, waste.gov, was taken offline due to similar concerns.
