The Institute for Supply Management’s manufacturing index has hit a snag, contracting by 0.6 points in February to 50.3, its lowest reading since the pandemic began. Orders and employment fell during the month, but a key indicator of price increases jumped to 62.4, the highest mark since June 2022, due to rising tariffs and concerns about materials costs.
