The United States men’s team defeated Costa Rica 3-0 on Wednesday, marking its second win in two games during the annual January camp. MLS players led the squad to victory.
Vancouver Whitecaps striker Brian White opened the scoring for the US, beating Esteban Alvarado after Diego Luna played him into the area with an incisive through ball. White became the oldest American to score his first international goal since 2016.
Goalkeeper Zack Steffen made crucial saves late in the first half and again in the second half to preserve the U.S.’s lead. Caden Clark and Patrick Agyemang scored goals late in the match, putting the game away.
Coach Mauricio Pochettino praised Steffen’s performance, saying he showed “quality that he has as a keeper.” This win marked Agyemang’s second goal in two games, his debut for the US.
