US Offers Ukraine Rare Earth Minerals Deal to Boost Military Support

US President Donald Trump has implied that a potential deal on rare earth minerals is crucial for Ukraine’s continued military support from the US. The agreement would grant the US access to critical minerals used in everyday and high-tech appliances, as well as military hardware.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said the deal would be a “game-changer” for ramping up Trump’s administration’s support for Ukraine. If successful, it would significantly strengthen Ukraine’s position against Russia, Graham claimed, adding that Putin would find the situation increasingly dire.

Graham also emphasized the importance of NATO and expressed concern about the US Defense Secretary’s comments on reducing European security priorities. The senator stated that the American Senate is firmly behind NATO membership and action, noting that “we need Nato now more than ever.”

The senator highlighted lessons learned from the initial 2014 invasion, emphasizing the need for integrated economic efforts with Ukraine to provide hope and a stronger military defense. He warned against provoking Putin and instead urged stopping him, suggesting increased military support for Ukraine as a form of deterrence.
