The US has recently reported three new cases of human bird flu infections. Three states have seen an increase in confirmed and probable cases: Nevada, Ohio, and Wyoming. In these cases, people who came into contact with dead poultry are believed to be at risk.
One case is from a dairy worker in Nevada, another is likely from a farm worker in Ohio, while the third is from an older woman in Wyoming who has been hospitalized. According to the Wyoming Department of Health, this woman caught the virus from her backyard chickens and has underlying medical conditions.
This new information raises the US total to 68 confirmed cases and eight probable ones since 2024. However, it’s noted that the Wyoming case is not included in these statistics.
