US Revokes Parole Status for Hundreds of Thousands of Immigrants

The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has revoked parole status for over 900,000 immigrants who entered the country via the CBP One app, a move that could leave them vulnerable to deportation. The Trump administration is pushing for these immigrants to voluntarily leave the country.

The CBP One app, launched in January 2023, was designed to control illegal immigration by organizing appointments at southern border ports of entry for asylum seekers. However, the Trump administration has now suspended its appointment system and rebranded it as CBP Home, with a built-in function for immigrants to report their intention to leave the US.

Immigrants who receive formal email notices will be urged to voluntarily self-deport using the CBP Home App. Those who refuse will face removal and permanent bar from reentry. However, DHS has confirmed that parolees designated under two specific programs – United for Ukraine and Operation Allies Welcome – will not be affected by this move.

The decision aims to secure US borders and protect national security, according to a DHS spokesperson.
