US Sends B-1 Bombers Near Venezuela in Show of Force

The US has flown Air Force B-1 bombers near Venezuela, raising tensions with President Nicolás Maduro’s government. The aircraft took off from Texas and flew over international airspace, following a similar display by B-52 bombers and F-35B jet fighters last week.

The B-1 is capable of flying at supersonic speeds and carrying heavy payloads, making it a potent force in the Caribbean region. Despite being stationed near US bases, the aircraft’s range allows them to reach anywhere from Texas.

The Pentagon described the recent flights as an “attack demonstration,” aiming to pressure Maduro’s government with a visible show of military power. Venezuela’s military was conducting training exercises when the US aircraft flew overhead. The incident comes days after another American warplane carried out a similar display near Venezuela.
