US Solar Industry at Risk Due to Republican House Bill

A bill advanced by Republicans in the US House of Representatives could harm 300 domestic solar and energy storage factories, killing nearly 300,000 jobs, according to the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA). The proposal targets subsidies from President Joe Biden’s climate law, which support wind and solar power. If passed, it would lead to a loss of $220 billion in solar and storage investments by 2030 and cost 292,000 solar jobs.

The SEIA estimates that the sector will account for 73% of US electric capacity additions between 2025 and 2030. The organization urges Congress to revise the legislation before it becomes law.
