US Stocks End Down, Tech Sectors Take a Hit

US stock markets closed down on Tuesday, with declines in the Technology, Consumer Goods, and Consumer Services sectors. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.07%, while the S&P 500 dropped 0.43% and the tech-heavy NASDAQ Composite shed 0.88%. Notably, NVIDIA Corporation plummeted 2.33%.

On the other hand, top performers in the S&P 500 included Moderna, APA Corporation, and Marathon Petroleum Corp, which gained 2.99%, 2.88%, and 2.58% respectively. Tesla Inc also saw a significant decline.

The NASDAQ Composite was dominated by Baird Medical Investment Holdings Ltd and Coeptis Therapeutics Holdings Inc, both of which surged with triple-digit percentage gains. However, some major laggards included Amentum Holdings LLC and Energous Corp.

Gold futures rose 0.79% to $2,638.69 per ounce, while crude oil prices edged higher by 1.10%. Despite this, overall market sentiment remained cautious, with the CBOE Volatility Index slipping 0.29% to 17.35.
