US Takes Targeted Action Against China’s Maritime Practices

The Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR) has taken targeted action to address China’s unreasonable acts, policies, and practices in the maritime, logistics, and shipbuilding sectors. The actions aim to resurrect American shipbuilding capacity and provide relief measures to protect American jobs, national security, and the nation’s shipbuilding industry.

Industry leaders and lawmakers have widely praised the USTR’s efforts, citing the need for a level playing field for American businesses and workers. Key supporters include:

* United Steelworkers International President David McCall
* International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers
* Steel Manufacturers Association
* Alliance for American Manufacturing President Scott Paul

Agricultural groups, such as U.S. Wheat Associates and the National Association of Wheat Growers, have also expressed gratitude towards the USTR for protecting US farm commodity export competitiveness.

Senator Roger Marshall and members of the Select Committee on the Chinese Community Party have welcomed the move, highlighting its importance in protecting national security, revitalizing America’s maritime strength, and strengthening supply chains.
