The US Treasury Department has named Rodney Hood, a former credit union regulator, as the acting head of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), which oversees the nation’s largest banks. Hood will replace Michael Hsu and assume his role from February 10.
Hood previously served as chairman of the National Credit Union Administration under both President Trump and President Biden from 2019 to 2021. He also held stints at major financial institutions including JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, and Bank of America.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced Hood’s appointment, stating that his strong leadership experience will enhance the OCC’s efforts to ensure the safety and soundness of the banking system while promoting economic growth.
