The department’s warning notes that there is potential for demonstrations against US citizens and interests abroad, and advises Americans to exercise increased caution when traveling. Global airlines have also paused flights to the Middle East, with destinations including Dubai, Doha, and Riyadh being cancelled.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio has warned that the US will impose costs on Iran if it attacks American personnel, while President Trump has vowed to respond to any Iranian retaliation with “force far greater than what was witnessed tonight”.
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has condemned the US attack as a grave violation of international law and urged other UN members to take action. The situation remains volatile, with the State Department urging Americans to check for travel advisories and security alerts before planning trips abroad.
