US coach Emma Hayes has named a new-look roster for the national team ahead of upcoming matches against Ireland and Canada. Several Europe-based players, including Lindsey Heaps, Catarina Macario, and Emily Fox, were given time off due to the European season. One exception is defender Naomi Girma, who is working her way back from a calf injury.
The 25-player roster includes four debutants: Jordyn Bugg, Lilly Reale, Izzy Rodriguez, and Sam Meza. Six players are making their senior national team appearances for the first time. Hayes has been looking to expand the player pool ahead of the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
“We want to continue improving our understanding of how we play and widening our player pool,” Hayes said. “We have a varied amount of experience on this roster, and my priority is to deepen our exposures for international soccer.”
Veteran midfielder Rose Lavelle returns from ankle surgery after six months away. The US team will face Ireland twice and Canada once, with the matches scheduled for June 26 in Commerce City, Colorado, June 29 in Cincinnati, and July 2 in Washington DC.
The roster features several players who have recently made a comeback, including Lavelle, who played for her club team Gotham FC last week. Hayes has named Angelina Anderson, Claudia Dickey, and Mandy McGlynn as goalkeepers, while Rose Lavelle leads the midfielders. The forwards include Lynn Biyendolo, Michelle Cooper, and Yazmeen Ryan.
