Usher, the R&B star who headlined the 2024 Super Bowl halftime show, shared his advice with The Jennifer Hudson Show during a recent interview. He warned this year’s performer, Kendrick Lamar, against getting too overwhelmed by pressure and instead encouraged him to “savor the moment.” Usher emphasized that perfectionism can distract from the joy of performing and advised Lamar to be present in the moment.
Usher recalled his own struggles with settling on a set list for his halftime show, stating he spent 100 edits before narrowing it down. He also noted the importance of enjoying himself, saying “you’re not going to get this moment again.” The singer suggested that Lamar use the opportunity to celebrate hip-hop and its impact.
Lamar will perform alongside frequent collaborator SZA in this year’s halftime show, which airs on February 9 on Fox.
