USWNT Makes History with Lineup Change Against Australia

The US Women’s National Team (USWNT) is set to make history against Australia at the 2025 SheBelieves Cup, presented by Visa. The starting lineup features several changes from the previous match against Colombia on February 20 in Houston, marking just the sixth time in USWNT history that all 11 starters have changed from game-to-game.

This change also marks a significant milestone for captain Tierna Davidson, who will lead the team for the first time. The 66-year-old has played 52 career starts and was part of the Olympic bronze medal-winning squad in 2021.

The lineup boasts several new faces, including sisters Alyssa and Gisele Thompson, who are starting together for just the fourth time in USWNT history. Other notable players making their debut include Claire Hutton, earning her first cap and start, and Mandy McGlynn, starting her second career game.

Manager Emma Hayes has made 11 changes from the previous match against Colombia, which is a rare occurrence in the team’s history. The change comes just under 25 years after the last time it happened in January 2000.

The USWNT will face Australia at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, with kickoff scheduled for 3:07 PM ET. This match marks the beginning of a new era for the team as they look to make history against one of their toughest opponents.
