Utah Jazz rookie Ace Bailey will face challenges in his NBA debut, according to coach Will Hardy. To thrive, Bailey must adapt his game, get stronger, and prepare for the grueling NBA schedule.
Hardy praised Bailey’s skills, including his ability to play off-ball screens and use his length on defense. However, he was unable to showcase these abilities due to a hip flexor injury that kept him sidelined for most of summer league.
Bailey will need to build a routine as he navigates the NBA schedule, which includes more appearances than in previous leagues. Hardy believes this routine is crucial to helping players survive the season.
The Jazz’s coaching staff will continue to work with their rookies and young players over the next two weeks before taking a short break around Labor Day. Training camp begins on September 29.
Hardy expressed excitement about coaching without restrictions, saying he’s “very, very” enthusiastic. He also emphasized the importance of community involvement, stating that the Utah Coaches Collective Clinic is a valuable resource for local coaches.
