UNICEF USA President & CEO Michael J. Nyenhuis says the world is at a critical moment in public health, requiring urgent and sustained attention and investment to protect hard-won gains against vaccine-preventable diseases. The value of vaccines cannot be debated, with over 154 million lives saved worldwide since their introduction.
UNICEF plays a key role in global vaccination efforts, procuring and distributing vaccines in over 100 countries. However, recent funding cuts have put millions at risk, particularly in low-income countries relying on the Vaccine Alliance for vaccine support.
As measles outbreaks surge in unvaccinated communities, UNICEF urges politicians to invest in foreign aid and protect children’s lives. The organization believes that immunization is a fundamental human right and will continue to work towards making vaccines available to all.
Despite growing challenges, UNICEF remains committed to its mission, working tirelessly to keep children healthy and safe. By supporting the organization, individuals can help ensure every child has access to the protection they need to reach their full potential.
