Vanderbilt Beats Georgia Tech in Birmingham Bowl After Weather Delay

Vanderbilt football’s Birmingham Bowl game against Georgia Tech resumed play after a weather delay caused by lightning. The Commodores were leading 35-13 with just over an hour to go when the delay occurred at 5:30 p.m. CT, but they eventually broke through for a 21-point unanswered lead.

The team was given a 30-minute wait period before resuming play, which resumed at 6:27 p.m. The Commodores were led by Diego Pavia, who threw three touchdown passes and ran for two scores in the win.

Georgia Tech will start their next drive from Vanderbilt’s 24-yard line after the delay. This marks the Commodores’ second weather-related delay in a football game this season, following a similar incident against Wake Forest in 2023.
