Vanderbilt Composes for MLB Desert Invitational Success

Vanderbilt will kick off its 2025 campaign at the MLB Desert Invitational, a prestigious tournament featuring NCAA Tournament teams from previous seasons. The Commodores will face three opponents over the opening weekend, including Grand Canyon, Nebraska, and UC Irvine.

The 2025 Vanderbilt roster boasts 22 returners and 21 newcomers, representing 17 states across the country. Notable players include junior RJ Austin, who was named to the Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List, and shortstop Jonathan Vastine, a senior with preseason rankings as one of the top shortstops in college baseball.

The Commodores will face stiff competition during their time in Phoenix, including 12 games against NCAA Tournament teams from last season. Coach Tim Corbin’s team is ranked among the top 25 in major preseason polls and has landed several players on the All-SEC team. The 2025 VandyBoys are set to make a strong showing at the MLB Desert Invitational, with many eyes on their performance as they begin the 2025 season.
