Oscar-nominated actress Vanessa Kirby is set to debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with her casting as Sue Storm in “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.” The highly anticipated trailer has finally given fans a glimpse into the latest adaptation of Marvel’s “first family,” first introduced in the comics in the 1960s.
Joining Kirby are Pedro Pascal, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn, who play Reed Richards, Ben Grimm, and Johnny Storm respectively. This installment takes over from Jessica Alba and Kate Mara, who portrayed Sue in previous films.
“First Steps” follows the Fantastic Four, a quartet of astronauts given extraordinary abilities courtesy of cosmic rays. The film showcases each member’s journey as they face their most daunting challenge yet against the ravenous space god Galactus.
Kirby is no stranger to high-profile franchises and critically acclaimed films. She played Princess Margaret in “The Crown” and received an Academy Award nomination for her role in 2020’s “Pieces of a Woman.” Her upcoming film “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” will see her reprise her role as the arms dealer White Widow.
Kirby is expected to reprise her role as Sue Storm in upcoming Marvel films, including “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars,” both set for release in 2024 and 2027 respectively.
